Advanced Training 2017

Continuous Education and Development Training Presented by SAPFED

It was that time of the year again where the PISA Integrity Assessment Centre attended the annual advanced training courses presented by the Southern African Polygraph Federation. This year it was held in Centurion with guest speaker Gil Witte and as always it was an extremely informative event which placed a lot of focus on the latest and greatest techniques and research.

New Techniques

A lot of focus was given to the implementation and use of the Directed Lie Screening Test and the very popular UTAH Comparison Question Technique. Boasting solid accuracy ratings and supported by credible scientific research, these techniques are sure have a solid impact on specific incident examinations and investigations as well continuous screening testing.

One extremely interesting aspect however was the combination of polygraph examinations with the use of mind maps to assist in creating easily understandable operational definitions in regards to the questions being asked. These operational definitions will not only assist in higher levels of accuracy as well as reduced false results, but can be effectively utilized by the investigating team to assist in the extraction of information.

Old Friends

Its not all about learning however, and once again the annual advanced training course was a fantastic opportunity for polygraph examiners from far and wide to get together, share ideas, concerns and generally shoot the breeze with colleagues from all spheres.

We would like to extend our biggest thanks to the Southern African Polygraph Federation for hosting another successful training session which once again assisted in raising the professional standards of the industry.

Association Of Certified Fraud Examiners

We were also excited about our first visit to the presentation of Attorney Juan Kotze at the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners presented in Pretoria. The presentation was on the successful presentation of digital and video evidence in court. We strongly believe it is additional training such as these that improve not only ourselves as polygraph examiners, but the professional standard of the entire industry. Working in an environment where unrelenting professionalism and ethical conduct is vital, we thank and support all the organizations working hard to improve the industry to the benefit of all.
